14 people died in a horrific car accident on the Lokoja-Obayana highway
Fourteen people died in an accident on the Lokoja-Obayana road in Kogi state.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, January 6th.
It turned out that the incident took place in the village of Staraya Akpata with a bus and a truck transporting cement from Obajany.
According to an eyewitness, the accident occurred as a result of a dangerous overtaking by a bus driver heading towards Kabbah. The witness said that all the passengers on this bus were killed.
Meanwhile, the governor of Kogi state Alhaji Yahaya Bello sympathized with the families of the victims.
State Commissioner for Information and Communications Kingsley Fanwo said in a statement that it is very sad that promising souls are lost in such miserable circumstances.
“As a government, we will strengthen road safety measures to avoid loss of life.”
“We also call on FRSC to strengthen roadside surveillance and ensure that road users comply with traffic regulations, and to ensure that only cars are used on our roads. Every life is precious. The Kogi State Government expresses its deep shock at this irreparable loss of life as we pray that God will give the families of the lost the fortitude to bear their losses. ”
