At least 21 people, including students, died in an accident involving school-aged children in Mgbovo, Avgu local government district, Enugu state.
This was stated by the Federal Highway Traffic Safety Corps (FRSC), confirming to reporters the tragedy of the accident on Thursday.
Igbere TV previously reported that the accident happened after the company’s brake truck broke down and crashed into a school bus full of students.
A source, Spartan Arinze, told our reporter that the students, who are mostly victims, including some of the staff, passed away shortly after the accident.
According to the source, a tragic accident on the road killed a tire seller, a cyclist and a mechanic.
Enugu Sector Commander Ogbonna Kalu, corroborating a credible report previously made by IGBERE TV, said the accident occurred on Wednesday between a school bus and a truck.
“It was confirmed that 21 people died and more than 50 people were on the school bus,” he said.
“In addition, it should be noted that not all children of school age died. Among the victims were those who worked on the side of the road. ”
He added that the information collected showed that the accident was caused by “unsafe driving.”
