333 Schoolchildren Still Missing – Governor Masari Reveals This
Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari provided an update on kidnapping in the state.

The governor said Sunday that 333 students from the Kankara State Science High School have yet to be found.
He reported this in Katsina state when Defense Minister General Salihi Magashi (retired) led the head of national services on a visit to the state in solidarity with the kidnapping of schoolchildren by bandits on Friday. …
Their entourage included the chief of the defense staff, the chief of the aviation staff and the director general of the National Intelligence Agency.
The governor said: “Kidnapped children cross the state because the boarding school is home to all children from all over the state, and some even outside the state.
“It is home to 839 people, and so far we have to represent 333 students. We still think because others are coming out of the woods and we call those parents who have phone numbers to see if their children have returned home or not.
“From the data we have, we are still looking for 333 students through the forest or their parents to establish the actual number of abducted.”
Masari said the militants have not yet contacted the government or anyone else about the kidnapping.
He assured that efforts were made to free the students.
He said: “We, as a government, have not yet contacted any group or person responsible for the kidnapping of the students.”
General Magashi, in his reply, assured the state of assistance from the federal government.
He said: “I was here around August on the same mission – to sympathize with the government over the clashes between farmers and herders. Today we are also here to sympathize with you regarding the recent kidnapping of high school students, which is a more or less ruthless measure aimed at curbing student education. ”
Then the meeting turned into a closed meeting.
