5 suspects marched for theft and destruction of NPA property in Port Harcourt

Five suspects were paraded on Wednesday 10 November after being arrested for alleged theft and destruction of property in the eastern port of Port Harcourt, the state capital of Rivers.

The suspects were paraded by Tami Peterside, the Police Commissioner, CP Eastern Port Command at the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) premises in Port Harcourt.

The suspects are said to have operated in the port for several months before being followed and captured during an operation in the Bua area of ​​the state.

It was revealed that the stolen items were worth N20 million.

However, the suspects denied the allegation and claimed they were on the waterways for entirely different reasons.

Recovered from the suspects were canoe, three gas cylinders, two wrenches, rusty iron fillings and grain.

The commissioner said the suspects would be prosecuted to serve as a warning to other criminals.
