He was found dead in a car in a complex in Ishiuzor, in the Egbu community, in the northern Municipal District of Owerri in Imo State, The Nation reported.
According to a community source who wished to remain anonymous, the boy was found dead in an apartment complex where he was sent to buy water bags.
The source said: “A 5-year-old was sent to buy clean water in a certain neighborhood. The boy never returned. A search group was created for the boy, and it was found only five days later.
“His body was finally found on the fifth day in the same pen where he was sent to buy clean water. The development was strange and surprised everyone in the area. This caused a lot of tension because no one knew the worst. “
The source said the boy’s relatives said that the woman selling goods at the complex had answers about her son’s death.
The source said that “while we are talking, this has been reported to the police because the boy’s owners are threatening with fire and sulfur. The woman selling supplies and her husband were arrested by the police and the case was referred to the Owerri State Criminal Investigation Department.
When police spokesman Orlando Ikeokwu was contacted on Saturday, he confirmed the child’s death.
Ikeokwu also said that a couple selling supplies at the complex where the boy was found dead were arrested and the case was transferred to police headquarters in Owerri, the state capital.
According to him, an investigation was launched to establish the cause of death.
