6th Army Division of GOK killed by COVID-19

Major General Johnson Olu Irefin, Officer General Commander of the 6th Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, reportedly died from complications related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The sudden death of Irefin, who took over command of the division in July 2020 and replaced Major Felix Agugo, is said to have plunged the army into mourning.

While the army’s public relations officer, Major Charles Ekeocha, was in control of the development, a senior military officer from Abuja confirmed this, calling his death shocking.

He said, “One of our good officers is dead. This is the 6th division of the GOK. He died in Abuja due to complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic. “

Before assuming command of the 6th Division and commanding the ground components of Operation Delta Safe, Port Harcourt Barracks, Irefin was the 81st Division of the Nigerian Army’s GOC in Lagos.
