774,000 vacancies: FG postpones recruitment, see new date

The planned recruitment of approximately 774,000 Nigerians by the federal government has been postponed.

The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Festus Keiamo (SAN), who said the postponed recruitment will take place until November 1.

He said that President Muhammadu Bukhari approved a schedule change for the program to recruit 1,000 people from all 774 local government districts to do black work for three months. Kayamo said this approval is based on his memo to the president, in which he advised that most of the proposed project sites are still flooded as the rains have lingered.

He noted that the program was designed to operate during the dry season, when most of the project sites will be ready for operation.

He said the acquisition of those to be transferred to the selected banks is ongoing in 774 local government districts. A spokesman for the Department of Labor and Employment said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The minister also noted that information on banks related to specific areas of local government can be found on the project website: www.specificpublicworks.gov.ng”.

He noted that additional information can also be obtained from various state selection committees.
