A man fights for his life in a hospital after a cell phone exploded in his hand

A 27-year-old man is now fighting for his life in a hospital after his cell phone exploded.

The man was holding the phone when it exploded in the parking lot, according to the Daily Star UK.

Queensland police were called into a parking lot in Lutwich, Brisbane, Australia on Monday 28 December following reports of an explosion at around 11:00.

It is reported that the 27-year-old man was in his car under the influence of alcohol or drugs, taking apart cell phones.

One of the devices is said to have exploded in his hand while destroying a communications device.

He reportedly suffered severe burns in the explosion and was taken to the Royal Women’s Hospital in Brisbane.

According to The Australian, the man suffered cardiac arrest on his way to the medical center and is in critical condition.
