A month has passed since the arrest of a woman accused of murdering a man in Akwa Ibom state.
According to the findings of the Sahara Reporters, a female member of the Akwa Ibom State’s National Youth Service Corps, Princess Odume, has been in her cell since her arrest without trial.

We will remind, she was arrested by the police for hacking down a man suspected of being her lover on January 10, 2021.
Sahara Reporter has learned that Odume is still in police custody and it is unclear if the police have any primary interests other than bringing her to court immediately for prosecution.
The source told SaharaReporters that the police could try to “resolve the matter out of court” or allow time to pass so that the Nigerians will forget the case after a while.
On January 10, Odume, a graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, was arrested by police after allegedly killing her male friend Japhet Aquaovo with a machete.
It was reported that a member of the female body was stripped and insulted by the deceased’s neighbors, who surprised her when she tried to jump over the fence with a saber.
On January 11, SaharaReporter reported that Odume was captured in Abak Street after neighbors saw the body of the alleged lover lying in a pool of blood with several cuts on the body.
On January 12, police said the corpse had committed a crime in self-defense.
Odiko State Police spokesman Ogbeche-McDon said that her lover, Akwaovo, threatened to kill her for refusing to comply with her request to take off her clothes so he could have sex with her.
A source confirmed to SaharaReporters on Wednesday that Odume is still in police custody a month later and that there has not yet been time to open a criminal case.
He said, “She is being held at the Uyo Police Department. There is so much controversy about this. She was not allowed to give an interview to the press, so police demands for self-defense are not being met. He slept in his house all night and they were completely friends.
“To date, a month later, the police have not yet charged her in a competent court and are still holding her in custody. Ultimately, when the case is finally brought to trial, it can take years to get justice. ”
A Facebook user at the scene of the incident posted the incident on his timeline after it happened.
“She was charged with the murder of a boy this morning on the Abak road. I saw a large crowd on Abak Road from Afakha Offot, so I ran there. And so, this young woman was beaten and stripped completely naked.
“She was found this morning at about 9.30 while trying to jump over the fence of the guy with whom she went to have sex. There were bloodstains everywhere, so they seized her and beat her in a stupor, and even stripped her.
“Some cyclists (commercial motorcyclists) said that she always sent them (to get them) weed since it was sent to Akwa Ibom for her NYSC (National Youth Services Corps),” wrote a Facebook user.
