However, ABU’s public relations director, Mallam, Auval Umar, said in a statement that the date of the shooting would be subject to revision by the federal government.

In a statement titled “Ahmadu Bello University Schedules Opening January 25,” it said the date for the reopening was approved by the university’s Senate at its 501st (special) meeting on Tuesday.

The statement said: “The 2019/2020 Academic Session will be concluded in accordance with the revised calendar approved by the Senate.

“The decision to reopen the university follows the suspension of the ASUU strike and the National University Commission’s ruling, based on the Presidential COVID-19 Task Force recommendation / authorization, that universities can reopen from January 18, 2021, subject to strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.”

He added that the opening of the university will be gradual.

The first phase of recovery will include all undergraduate / undergraduate students, level 100 and 200 students, all medical students, and all graduate students to be virtually guided using blended and advanced learning, the statement said. online learning supported by ICT.

The second stage, according to the press release, will include all other non-graduate classes, 300 levels for a four-year degree, 300 and 400 levels for a five-year degree, and 300, 400 and 500 levels for a master’s degree.

He added that “it should be noted that all non-pharmaceutical COVID-19 protocols will be strictly enforced throughout the campus, and each student must submit an online commitment to comply with all COVID-19 protocols both inside and outside campus. Students who have not completed and submitted this online form will not be able to print the exam card.

“In addition, the university will, within its resources, support the university’s Health Service with the supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a storage compartment to ensure that any suspected cases are managed safely.

“Likewise, management will take all necessary steps to strengthen the security architecture of the university and ensure proper security and protection of the university community.”
