Abuja #ENDSARS Protesters seize Kubwa highway, blocking traffic

Many young Nigerians, hundreds of people taking part in the #EndSARS, took control of the Kubwa Expressway.

Protesters barricaded the Abuja Kubwa-Zuba motorway, blocking traffic on Saturday, PUNCH reported.

While some activists blocked the Qubwa section of the wide highway near the NNPC junction, others reportedly also blocked the Garimp section, creating serious traffic jams in the area.

It was learned that activists had previously driven across the Gado-Nasco road, one of the main roads in Kubwa, before taking control of the highway.

Young people played music from their cars, danced and sang slogans calling for police reform, good governance and a safer nation.

The action blocked motorists and passengers on a 10-lane highway for many hours.

No security personnel were seen in the vicinity.

This comes less than 24 hours after activists seized the road at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, forcing residents on this axis to spend the night in their cars.

Many would-be travelers also missed their flights as young people paralyzed cars to and from the airport.

A civil servant living in Lugbe, a satellite town by the airport road, Madame Janet said she spent more than 10 hours on the road to the airport, adding that she returned home around 12 noon on Saturday.

“Young people paved the way for me when I explained that I was not feeling well. Despite their interference, I did not arrive home earlier than 12 o’clock in the morning. The trip from office to home in 10 minutes took over 10 hours. My neighbor was out of luck; she came home at 1 am, ”he said.
