Adam Garba condemns arrest of OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters
Former impersonator Adam Garba condemned the arrest of peaceful protesters by Nigerian police outside a toll station in Lecchi on Saturday, IgbereTV reported.
Protesters from #OccupyLekkiTollGate stormed the toll station today to protest the planned reopening of the toll station in Lekki following the alleged killing of protesters on October 20, 2020.
However, officers at the scene have been spotted in popular videos arresting and placing some protesters in Black Maria.
In response to the arrest, Garba claims that as long as they do not inconvenience other citizens, they have the right to protest peacefully in accordance with the law.
Taking his Twitter account, the APC chief wrote:
“To the extent that #EndSARS protesters do not block other citizens from moving around the #Lekkitollgate, the law gives them the right to protest peacefully.
“At the end of the day, this is the principle of democracy that we practice.
“All detained protesters must be released immediately.”
