Additional state to the southeast, autonomy will put an end to unrest in Nigeria - Ohanaeze tells Buhari

This was announced by the group in a statement signed by the general secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, comrade Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and transmitted Monday to DAILY POST.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has received advice on how to end the turmoil in the southeast.

According to the Igbo apex socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the creation of additional states in the Southeast and the granting of full autonomy to the regions will put an end to the unrest in Nigeria.

This was announced by the group in a statement signed on Monday by the general secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, comrade Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

The statement reads in part: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has advised the federal government that the best political solutions to the Biafra agitation in the southeast are to provide platforms for genuine dialogue and initiate the process of interfacing with neutral Igbo leaders by banning strictly the Igbo politicians. from dialogue because they are part of the problems of the south-east.

We are aware of the international pressures in the federal government currently and why FG should not miss the opportunity to seek genuine dialogue with neutral Igbo patriots and senior statesmen, who will sincerely communicate the difficulties of IGBOs without the usual manipulative infusions of politicians. south-east.

“International pressure on the federal government regarding the extraordinary surrender of Nnamdi Kanu after the Kenyan government confirmed that there were no official extradition procedures for Kanu before he was sent to Nigeria, these international pressures have opened extraordinary circumstances that must be explored by both the federal government and non-political Igbo leaders ”.

Ohanaeze, however, urged the federal government to engage in genuine dialogue with Igbo leaders who will sincerely communicate the Igbo difficulties without the manipulative infusions of southeastern politicians, which is what can bring peace to the region.

The group added: “The first step awaited by the federal government is to set in motion a mechanism for peaceful dialogue with Igbo religious leaders, traditional Igbo rulers and selected senior statesmen such as Pa Mbazulike Amaechi, Elder KUK Kalu. and others, as it is obvious that FG cannot shy away from peace talks with IGBO before the next court hearing of Nnamdi Kanu January 19, 2022 with the exclusion of Igbo governors, members of the Igbo National Assembly, members of the Executive Council federal Igbo, of the Igbo APC and PDP members present.

The federal government should accelerate the actions that will lead to the creation of additional states for the Southeast and the granting of full autonomy of the federated units of all regions of the country, these are the two best options as political solutions to address the activities of the groups. of Biafra and their arrowheads.

“The releases of Nnamdi Kanu and Igboho from incarceration without addressing the causes of the unrest will worsen the ongoing situation, intensify their agitation activities, the only options for FG now are to create an additional state for the Southeast and the autonomous region. for the south-eastern region through the National Assembly “.
