Ondo State Governor and President of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu, congratulated the governor-elect of Anambra, Chukwuma Soludo, saying that the latter’s experience as an economist has been a great asset to the state.
This was stated by Akeredolu in a statement signed by the Ondo State Commissioner for information and guidance, Donald Ojogo.
The PUNCH reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday declared former Central Bank of Nigeria governor Soludo the winner of the Anambra elections which took place on 6 November.
In the statement titled “Southern Governors Forum Congratulates Anambra State Governor Elect, Soludo,” Akeredolu commended the people of Anambra for their participation as he instructed Soludo to prepare for the task ahead.
Akeredolu also said the SGF was looking forward to working with Soludo in the fight against the security and economic challenges facing the region.
“We can’t wait to work with prof. Charles Soludo under the auspices of the Forum of Southern Governors, for Peace, Security and Development of the State of Anambra, Southern Nigeria and the country in general, ”the statement quoted Akeredolu as saying. He continued: “Without a doubt, we will be happy to explore the Governor-elect’s experience as it relates to the economy and also helps in our efforts to keep the people of southern Nigeria safe.
“Prof Soludo’s experience as a consummate economist will be of great value to the good people of Anambra, the Southern Governors’ Forum and the entire country. Our efforts towards economic integration and the improvement of socio-economic relations in the SGF will undoubtedly be strengthened in many respects.
“On behalf of my SGF colleagues, I congratulate Prof. Soludo and wish him the best as he prepares for the Herculean task that awaits him.”
