Aliyev made a loud statement. He noted that if the need arises, his country will turn to Turkey with a request to provide military assistance in liberating the occupied lands and repelling aggression.
Aliyev made a statement on the possibility of participation of units of the Turkish army in the war in an interview with the Air Force. He allowed the possible participation of Turkish troops in the event of an attack on Azerbaijan by a third party.
Aliyev noted that the agreement between Ankara and Baku has the same force and importance as the agreement between Moscow and Yerevan. According to him, if necessary, his country will turn to Turkey with a request for military assistance.
“If the need arises, if Azerbaijan faces aggression and sees that it needs military assistance from Turkey, then we are ready to consider this option,” Aliyev said in an interview with British media.
It should be reminded that earlier Ankara had unambiguously announced that it was ready to render any military assistance to Azerbaijan.
Turkey will not hesitate to send troops and provide military support to Azerbaijan if such a request comes from Baku, Vice President Fuat Oktay told CNN Turk TV last month.
“Our president has clearly stated this from the first day. There are military agreements between Azerbaijan and Turkey, there are agreements on military cooperation. If an unforeseen development of events occurs on the part of Armenia and if such an invitation is received, Turkey will not hesitate, our President will not hesitate at all, ”Oktay said.
At the same time, he noted that at the moment such appeals have not been received.
On the eve, Ilham Aliyev reported on the capture of the ancient capital of Nagorno-Karabakh, one of the largest cities in the Shushi region, by Azerbaijani troops. In turn, the representative of the Armenian Ministry of Defense Artsun Hovhannisyan denied Aliyev’s statement. However, the Azerbaijani side has already started publishing videos from Shushi, which confirm Baku’s statement on the liberation of this city.
