APC Ignore Tinuba, Akande Complaints, Continues Member Registration

The All-Progressive Congress (APC) ruling continued its current national registration and renewal despite objections from Asivajou Bol Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State and leader of the national party, and Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun and interim national president la festa.

Akande criticized the ongoing registration and revalidation of members on Thursday, calling it a waste. He also hit hard on the party’s National Guard Committee led by Yobe State Governor Mai Bala Buni, claiming that the committee was an anomaly.

The former Governor of Osun State, who spoke to a party delegation led by Senator Laban Shuyabu, registered it at his Branch 04, Block 012, Isedo1, Ila-Orangun, Osun State. He said the committee of trustees should refrain from the temptation to remain in office.

He said: “Under normal circumstances, the presence of an executive committee of guards of a political party is an anomaly. If not scrutinized and quickly acted upon, most deviant authorities end up despised and dishonored. For this reason, I want to urge the current Executive Committee of APC Care to resist all the temptations of the sedentary syndromes that typically plague most elected governments in most of the underdeveloped countries of the world. ”

He also criticized the new registration, saying it was a waste of time when the party has a well-computerized ledger that can be updated to take advantage of the new technology as needed.

Akande also questioned the wisdom of compiling a new register when the latter was not until a decade, arguing that the national census had not been conducted this way either.

Many of those who said Akande spoke with Tinubu’s thoughts were correct last weekend when he (Tinubu), speaking to reporters at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos, said he supported Akande’s position because he had not heard. The situation in which the party register was posted to the Independent. The National Electoral Commission (INEC) was invalidated at the time APC was registered.

Speaking to our correspondent, a member of the Guardians’ Committee said that while the issues raised by Tinubu and Akande were well taken into account, nothing will stop the registration process.

He also said that although the committee would not be merging issues with the two party leaders, they would be grateful if they both wrote to the party secretariat to document their objections, rather than contact the media about it.

“Yes, their complaints have been noted, but I cannot say if they are genuine or not. For me, this is not criticism, this is just advice that the party will study, perhaps after the whole exercise, and decide on the next step. This will not interrupt the registration and verification process in any way.

“President Bukhari, the leader of the party number one, has registered. Asivaju, our national leader and father (Akande), also registered. It would be different if they said that they would not register based on their observations. So nothing will stop the teachings, ”he said.

Also in his speech, CEO of the Forum of Progressive Governors of PGF Salih Lukman advised not to transfer the APC membership register to any party leader, warning of serious undemocratic consequences.

Luckman, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said it should be emphasized that in all the debates leading to the current registration / revalidation of ATP members, no one has disputed the current ATP membership roster.

“The emphasis was on the fact that it should be updated to remove the names of members who left the party and register new members. In addition, the register should be held by the National Secretariat of the party, and not by individual party leaders.

“Keeping a roster of members under the control of individual leaders, especially when such leaders are assumed to have electoral ambitions, is problematic.”
