APC supports Sanwo-Olu in canceling pension payments from Tinubu, Fashola, and others.

The All Progressive Congress (APC), the head of Lagos state, said on Tuesday that it fully supports Governor Babajide Sanvo-Olu’s decision to overturn the decision to abolish public office (Pension Benefits Act 2007), which provides pension payments and other rights to former governors and their deputies …

The Governor made this during the presentation of the budget for 2021 at the House of Assembly of the State of Lagos.

“Mr. Speaker and Distinguished Members of the House, in light of maintaining low management costs and to communicate altruism in the civil service, we will shortly send to the House the Executive Bill on the Removal of Powers for Public Office 2007), which provides for the payment of pensions and other rights to former governors and their representatives, ”Sanvo-Olu said.

Chatting with the Daily Independent, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, the chairman of every Nigerian right-wing party, who he believes should support and applaud the governor’s decision given the country’s resource depletion.

He said the state of Lagos will use the money to develop the state and provide infrastructure and other services to the large population of the state.

He said, “We fully support this. This is a good move and must have been well thought out before the decision was made. This is a welcome idea for the whole party. “

“In many states, we have seen many people complain about these pensions to former governors and parliamentarians.”

“If we look at declining incomes across the country and the declining economy in terms of oil prices and what comes with it in the form of oil revenues, it affects the entire economy of all states in the country.

“So if the governor makes that decision, I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all. This money, which would have been used to pay pensions, will go to the development of the states in which these decisions were made. “

“In Lagos, we believe that we can use this money for production activities, and not for the constant payment of pensions to former governors. So for us at Lagos APC, this is a welcome idea. “
