Aqueredolu lifts curfew and demands calm

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Aqueredolu lifted a previously imposed 24-hour curfew on Friday night to curb the tide of violence in the state.

Thugs seized # EndSARS protests against police brutality in order to damage the state. An unbeliever attacked a state prison, freeing inmates. Several police stations, commercial premises, and public and private property were looted and burned this week.

The governor, announcing the lifting of the curfew, said the decision was made because of the relative calm seen in Akura, the state capital.
This is stated in a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Management Doand Ojogo.

The statement said: “The decision to lift the curfew was made following consultations between Governor Oluvarotimi Akeredolu, SAN and state security officials following a preliminary assessment of the state’s security situation.

“The relative peace in the state capital of Akure seems very encouraging, as does the determination of people, especially young people, not to tolerate banditry in any form.
“Therefore, when law-abiding residents are allowed to engage in their legal activities, it is normal. “
