Armed men shot at the crowd in Anambra, three killed (graphic photo)
Three men were killed after two unidentified militants stormed the Eke Nkpor community center in the Idemili metropolitan area of Anambra state and opened fire on people gathered in the center on 10 February.
A statement released by state police spokesman Haruna Mohammed said that around 1:30 pm today, police received reports of an alleged shooting at 32-year-old Iuchukwu Idemili ‘m’ from Nkpora, Chidi Oforma ‘m’ 31 years old. Nkpor and Bongo Muoghalu at the age of 45 Umoji.
Haruna said the incident allegedly occurred when two unidentified boys were driving an unregistered black Mercedes “V Boot” and opened fire on the crowd just after the inauguration of the Nkpor community tax office at the Civic Center.
“Following the report, police investigators attached to the Ogidi department, led by Public Relations Officer Ekuri Remigius, visited the scene and took the three victims with gunshot wounds to Crown Hospital on the Nkpor-Umuoji Road for medical treatment. All three victims were declared dead by a doctor while receiving treatment. The bodies were handed over to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Two 7.62 mm rounds were found at the scene as artifacts. “
The police spokesman added that an investigation is currently underway to identify the circumstances of the incident, and efforts are being made to arrest those responsible for this heinous act in order to bring them to justice.
