Atiku Abubakar’s son lost custody of children due to ex-wife

The son of Atik Abubakar, the son of a former vice president, was ordered on Tuesday by the highest court in Kubwa, Abuja, to hand over three of his children to their mother, Maryam Sherif, immediately.

Last year, the sheriff filed a lawsuit against Abubakar in the Gudo Supreme District Court under CV / 41/2019. Subsequently, the case was referred to the highest court in Kubwa under the number CV / 16/2020, PM News reports.

She asked the court to grant her custody of their three children.

Judge Bashir Danmaisule handed down his verdict on Tuesday, stating that the defendant could not sue the applicant to deprive her of her children under Islamic law.

According to him, the appeal will be resolved within the next 30 days.

The judge removed the testimony of five witnesses presented by the accused during the trial.

Abubakar and his lawyer, Abdullahi Hassan, did not appear in court for sentencing.
