Bandits attack Shiroro, Niger. 15 people drowned while trying to escape
On Saturday evening, armed bandits launched another attack on the Gourmet Quarter in the Shiroro metropolitan area of Niger state.

The nation has learned that more than 15 people are suspected of drowning in the Kaduna River as they tried to escape a bandit attack.
Sources said the bandits were armed with sophisticated weapons and opened fire from time to time when they invaded your community.
The source, who prefers to remain anonymous, said people had to flee to the river to avoid attacks, adding that many drowned in the process.

In response to an inquiry, Sani Abubakar Kokki, co-organizer of Concerned Youth of Shiroro, said the militants had attacked the community with heavy and modern weapons.
He said the bandits occasionally shot into the air when they attacked the village, adding that there are many casualties, but it is not certain how many people have been injured at the moment.
Attempts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abiodun Wasiou were in vain as he did not pick up the phone and did not respond to text messages.
