Bandits kill 15 people in Sokoto, kidnap women

At least 15 people were killed in attacks on some communities in Sokoto state.

In the recent attacks, some women were also kidnapped.

Commenting on the attacks, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal listed Gornyo and Illela as some of the affected communities.

During the presentation of his 2022 budget proposal at the State House of Assembly on Monday, Tambuwal said, “Let me begin by condemning the people of the Goronyo and Illela local government areas for last night’s attacks by bandits who have killed 12 people in Illela and three people in Goronio. “

According to the governor, security challenges were hampering their efforts to develop the state, ensuring they would remain focused on providing security for lives and property in the state.

Speaking to the Daily Trust, Bello Isa Ambarura, a member representing Illela’s constituency in the State Assembly House, said three communities were attacked by bandits in his area.

“It really is a calamity. The situation requires God’s intervention. We resorted to prayers, ”he said

Communities attacked by raiders in Illela include Runji, Kalmalo, and Munwadata.

According to the member, the bandits also kidnapped many others.

Goronyo local government area president Alhaji Abdulwahab Goronyo said three people were killed in a village called Kojiyo in the area.

He added that the gunmen kidnapped three women in the area.
