Bandits kill the head of the brigade, kidnap eight Katsin
Militants suspected of being banned on Sunday night reportedly killed Mallam Ummar Bally, the leader of a security group in the city of Maigora, in the Faskari local government area, Katsina state.
According to PUNCH, gunmen also abducted eight people in an attack in the village of Rimi, in the Sabuwa metropolitan area, in the state.
It was learned that Balli had brought other vigilantes to Remey to confront the bandits who were operating that night.
Residents also reported that the group involved the bandits in a shootout that resulted in Balli’s death.
The bandits reportedly fled into the forest with the abduction of eight victims.
Since then, Balli has been buried according to Muslim rites.
Representative of the Katsina State Police Department, S.P. Gumbo Isa has not yet reacted to the incident at the time of reporting. Governor Aminu Masari’s special security adviser, Mallam Ibrahim Katsina, did not answer a phone call and has not yet responded to a text message sent to him at the time of writing.
