Zamfara State Governor Bello Matavalle said dialogue with the bandits is still relevant, even though he secured the release of 26 katsin girls from the bandits, IgbereTV reported.

In a statement released Sunday November 8, Zilani Bappa, special adviser to the governor on public lighting, media and communications, said the girls between the ages of 8 and 12 were handed over to the Zamfara state government. no ransom.

“The girls who were kidnapped by militants in the Fascari metropolitan area of ​​Katsina state were taken to the bushes of Zamfara state, but were miraculously discovered by the state authorities and released through negotiations led by the state police commissioner. and the State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, who is constantly engaged in dialogue on behalf of the government with the bandits in the state about the need for peace and normal life, ”the statement said.

Governor Matavalle, who hosted the rescued girls, said his administration would not abandon a peaceful dialogue with the bandits, since firepower alone cannot solve the problem of banditry in the state.

“This is a testament to our vision of engaging bandits in a peaceful dialogue. For those who believe that we are wrong when talking to the bandits, the safety of these minors, who are all girls, safe and sound, is truly priceless, ”he said.

26 rescued girls underwent a medical examination and received new clothes. Governor Matavalla ordered them to return safely to Katsina State.

Thanks to this latest financial aid, the total number of those released by the bandits in the last week has exceeded 40 people.
