Boko Haram: “I am Disappointed with Bukhari’s Government” – APC Senator, Ndume

Congressman and Senator from the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senator Ali Ndume, a proponent of the movement for progress, expressed his displeasure with the government of President Muhammad Bukhari.

The chairman of the Senate Army Committee said he was unhappy with the federal government’s rehabilitation of repentant Boko Haram members. Ndoume spoke Wednesday at a private meeting on budget protection with the Nigerian military.

Ndoume, who has always viewed the government’s de-radicalization of former Boko Haram members as a loss of priority, insisted that the administration misplaced and pampered former terrorists while the country was still at war.

“I do not agree with the government,” Ndume said. The deputy representing Borno South noted that members of a dangerous terrorist group captured during military operations could be held captive and subsequently brought to trial in accordance with the law.

Ndume emphasized that the recent “attack on Damboa was carried out by a repentant member of Boko Haram.” The legislator said that “a repentant member of Boko Haram provided the terrorist group with information on the movement of the army.”

He said that it is unfair for the government to waste its resources on those who threaten peace in the country.
