British High Commission closes visa application centers in Nigeria amid #EndSARS protests

Following numerous #EndSARS events in Nigeria, the UK High Commissioner for Nigeria has closed his centers.

On Wednesday, the commission said it has closed its centers in Nigeria for the next 48 hours, starting today (Wednesday) due to ongoing nationwide protests in the country.

He also said that his TLS Visa Application Centers in Nigeria are currently closed.

Although, like his American counterpart, the British High Commissioner has not ruled on the attacks on defenseless protesters in Lecchi, Lagos last night, the commission will be adopted a few hours after the US government did so. the same for his consulate in Lagos.

The commission, in a brief statement on its Twitter page, @UKinNigeria, also asked candidates with Wednesday and Thursday appointments to reschedule their meetings from Monday, October 26th.

The statement reads: “Due to ongoing protests in Nigeria and for the safety of both staff and job seekers, our Nigerian centers will be closed for at least 48 hours.

“For applicants who have appointments during this period, the appointment will need to be rescheduled for the next week starting from October 26, 2020.

“We will continue to post regular updates on this page, so check back for the latest reopening information. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. “
