Bukhari and Osinbajo to be vaccinated against COVID-19 live on TV

Nigerians will watch President Muhammadu Bukhari and his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, receive a live COVID-19 vaccine to allay the concerns of those expressing doubts.

This was announced by the federal government. The statement also added that Federation Government Secretary (SGF) Boss Mustafa and other prominent Nigerians will be among the first groups of Nigerians to receive the COVID-19 vaccine live.

This was announced on Thursday in Abuja by the Executive Director / CEO of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, during the Presidential Task Force (PTF) Joint National Briefing on COVID-19. “It serves to raise public awareness of the virus and vaccine use in the country when it finally arrives,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to have no doubts about the vaccines when they arrive, as key government officials like the President, Vice President and SGF will televise it live. “So we have to provide them.” Even in developed countries, they saw that in addition to prioritizing health workers, you also need to identify with critical leaders who do not want to be wiped out by the virus.

For example, in war, if you want to destroy your enemies, you are looking for specific leaders, captains, generals; by being decapitated, the soldiers will become weak. “As much as possible, you don’t want to leave your leaders vulnerable to COVID-19, that doesn’t mean you want to prioritize politicians, it’s wrong,” he said.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that Nigeria intends to receive 42 million COVID-19 vaccines to reach a fifth of its population through the global COVAX scheme.

The initial vaccines will be part of Nigeria’s plan to vaccinate 40% of the population in 2021 and another 30% in 2022, with 100,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine delivered by the end of January 2021.
