Bukhari ignored Nigerians by refusing to meet with NASS – Jimi Agbaje
Jimi Agbaje, a former nominee for governor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, said President Muhammad Bukhari’s refusal to honor the convocation of the National Assembly on the unsafe situation in the country is a complete disregard for the people of Nigeria.

The president, who had previously spoken out in honor of the invitation, later backed down after being advised not to attend by governors elected by the All Progressive Congress (APC) platform.
In addition, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami say the National Assembly has no constitutional authority to summon President Muhammad Bukhari.
According to Malami, the president’s right to attract and speak to the National Assembly is inherently discretionary and not at the direction of the National Assembly.
However, speaking in a chat with the Daily Independent, Agbaje said that the president should have heeded the call of lawmakers, since they are representatives of the people.
According to him, President Muhammadu Bukhari owes the Nigerians an explanation of the raging instability in the country, which has become an emergency in the country.
“I am not a lawyer, so I will not go into the constitutionality of their powers.”
“My position is that in our democracy the National Assembly represents. On issues of a state of emergency in the country, such as what we have now in connection with insecurity, the president is obliged to explain to the people. “
“Refusal to meet with the National Assembly is disrespect for people in this matter of state importance,” he said.
