Bukhari orders arrest and prosecution of illegal weapons carriers
President Muhumaad Bukhari has ordered the arrest and prosecution of all carriers of illegal weapons in the country, regardless of their ethnicity.
This was announced yesterday by the official representative of the President Femi Adesina in the program of the TV channel “Politics Today”, which is controlled by our reporter.
The Daily Trust reported exclusively on Sunday that weapons proliferation is fueling insecurity across the country.
Adesina said that the president absolutely does not tolerate criminals and will not harbor anyone whom the security authorities cannot find.
“The President has always insisted that anyone who is seen carrying a weapon illegally should be arrested and brought to justice, no matter where he comes from.” He said.
Regarding the President’s efforts to end the shepherd’s crisis, Adesina said: “Some positions have been explored to resolve the issue, the President has talked about it. The ancient paths of cattle known to us were invaded by civilization. So, you have to do breeding.
“Governor Hortom has said in the past that breeding is the way out of the crisis, but he suddenly rebelled, saying there was no land for that. Another alternative was the RUGA settlement, but people say there is no land for it. Some say that animal husbandry is a private business, so the government should not get involved.
“The question arises: are we interested in permanently solving these problems for the benefit of all parties? This is what we need to consider. “
