Bukhari sees what Nigerians don’t see in service managers

Garba Shehu, the president’s press secretary, says President Muhammadu Bukhari has not yielded to requests for the dismissal of service leaders because he sees things that Nigerians do not see.

Shehu said this when he appeared on the Continental Television (TVC) show on Sunday. In 2020, Nigeria has seen a spike in killings by rebels, bandits and Boko Haram kidnappers.

To remedy the situation, the national assembly asked the president at least four times to fire service leaders for poor performance.

Other stakeholders, such as the Governors’ Forum of Nigeria (NGF), also said the military is overwhelmed and needs new ideas to stop the killings.

Instead, the president insists that service heads remain in office as long as Bukhari is satisfied with their work.

Speaking on the TV show, Shehu said that the chief of staff of the army and his colleagues serve for the pleasure of the president, who did not fire them because “he sees what the critics do not see.”
“This is because he sees what the critics do not see. He sees what most people do not see, ”he said, answering the question why the security personnel are still responsible.

“This is not a role assignment. There is no part in the law that states that the chief of staff of the army must serve for two years. Then, after two years, he must leave.

“This is for the pleasure of the president. Now the president has said once again that he will make changes. When will he make these changes? It completely depends on him. I think the Nigerians should give him a reason to doubt. “

He added that the Bukhari administration has failed to solve the country’s security problems because problems are “changing.”

“This country has always been a problem of insecurity. No country is free of crime, ”he said, adding:“ Problems are changing … but now all hands are on the bridge.

“Judging by the resolutions we receive, in particular from the President, 2021 will be a very decisive year in the fight against Boko Haram, banditry and kidnapping.”
