Bukhari’s accusation won’t solve insecurity – Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf

Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf, chairman of the Senate’s Committee on Special Duties, said that a request to impeach President Muhammad Bukhari would not solve the country’s security problems.

The legislator, in an interview with reporters in Abuja, said that impeachment of Bukhari will not solve the security problem.

Yusuf said the responsibility for ensuring security rests not only with the president, but with all state governors, who also control the local government.

He said: “Several months ago we asked the president to replace the heads of the security service. They were changed, what happened?

“Someone says that they are dismembering the country, someone says that they are changing the leadership, impeachment of the president. How does this help in the situation?

“If you impeach the president, who will come to power? Isn’t that the vice president? Isn’t this the same government? Or remove the president and his deputy, and the chairman of the Senate will take over, isn’t it the same government?

“We have to think outside the box, and in part we see it as our responsibility to tackle the problem of insecurity in this country.”

Therefore, Yusuf instructed the Nigerians to conclude that solving security problems is not only the responsibility of the government. “

“In my opinion, President Muhammadu Bukhari is doing everything in his power. We must also cooperate with him. We must provide him with the kind of help that will help solve our problem.

“We need to share intelligence so that we have common protection. People are not doing enough to help the government do what it should do.

“President Bukhari alone cannot solve this problem until we stand together and work with him, and then we solve this problem,” he added.
