Celebration of the kidnapping of Catholic Bishop Owerri regains freedom

Owerri loyalists in Imo State danced with joy after his captors freed the auxiliary bishop, Archbishop Owerri Moses Chikve.

Let us remind you that last Sunday the bishop was kidnapped by the kidnappers. According to the Imo State Police, he was released along with the driver without ransom.

State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Orlando Ikeokwu told reporters in Owerri announcing the bishop’s release. He added that the rescue of the Catholic bishop was made possible by what he called a “puncture operation” carried out by the police, adding that the bishop was saved unharmed along with his driver and other victims.

According to Orlando, “Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Owerri and others, was released unharmed, without ransom, in a stinging operation carried out by men from the Imo State Police Command.”

As a reminder, Bishop Chikwe was kidnapped near New Owerri on Sunday and spent about six days in the hands of his captors.
