Children detain their 70-year-old father for 12 months in Lagos
Surajudin Jaji, a home owner from Lagos, was rescued by the police.

The man was rescued after being held by his children for over 12 months in a room at Residence No. 47 Maria Okor Street, Bucknor District, Ejigbo Local Council Development District, Lagos State.
According to PUNCH Metro, a 70-year-old man was locked in a room in his home after his children suspected he was planning to sell his property.
To prevent the 77-year-old from carrying out his plan, it became known that his children would tell his waitress to deny visitors access to him, but when asked about Judgie’s whereabouts, the children said that this prevented him from contracting COVID. -19.
PUNCH Metro realized that problems began between Judji and his family when a waitress, who was simply called Adija, was hired to provide for him and his wife Rashidat at home.
A few months after Adija hired her, her services were interrupted by children, who suspected that she was having an illegal relationship with their father.
Human Rights Committee member Abdulganiyu Salaudin, who spoke to PUNCH Metro on Monday, said Judji’s children and family said their father started acting strange after Adizhi’s firing.
He said: “So, Alhaji Jaji is being held in his house from February 2020 until today. The family hired a maid to provide for him, and the children claimed that the maid was in love with their father. Based on this statement, the children claimed that the maid turned their father against them and that the father said he wanted to sell his property before he died.
“So, they attacked the waitress, removed her and even refused to pay her full salary. This was the beginning of Mr. Judge’s problem; his children collected all his phones and locked him in one of the rooms of the house. The man was confined in an inner room, and whenever they wanted to feed him, they opened the door and fed him.
“I called two of her children to confirm the situation, and their excuse was that their father said he did not give them children; therefore, instead of letting him sell his property, they chose to lock him up until he gained common sense, as they claimed he was under a spell. “
When contacted, one of Judji’s sons, Titi, said: “We said we no longer want his (Adizhi) services, and I don’t know why he is making false accusations against several people that we locked up our father. Why are we going to do this to our father and why is Adija particularly interested in our father? Our mother also lives in the same house. “
When our reporter asked to speak with Judgie, Titi said: “This is not necessary, you will speak with the head of the family.”
Titi put PUNCH Metro in touch with family head Aliamin Onashokun, who said Judji’s phone was confiscated to prevent him from contacting Adija.
He said, “When we hired Adiju, everything spread. He (Judji) was not locked at home; his wife Rashidat and a housekeeper are also at home. Adija was asked to leave because she had an affair with Judji and she bewitched him.
“Judji disowned his children and wife because of Adizha and said that he would give her his house. All family members agreed that his phone should be removed so that he could not contact Adizha. “
In an attempt to establish Judji’s true status, PUNCH Metro tied Salaudin with the police, who took them home, but when they arrived on Tuesday, the front door of the house was locked.
When attempts to drag someone inside the house and open the door were unsuccessful, Salaudin said: “The police used the services of a welder who broke down the door, and when we entered, we met Alhaji Jaji in the room. His wife is in the room. was also next to the maid. “
In a video provided by PUNCH Metro, Judgie said, “I want freedom, but I want my children not to enter this house until I die. They should also take their mother to their home. “
When contacted, State Police Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi said, “When we mobilized our men at home, we found that children locked their father and mother in the house for about a year, and the results so far have shown that children claimed that their father wanted to sell his property and therefore he was imprisoned.
“I don’t know the reasons why my father was arrested because he wanted to sell his property. But a police station officer works with the chairman of the local government council to get the man and his wife to the hospital for treatment. In addition, we will contact the children and continue our investigation from there. “
