DAMAGE: FG denies creating no-fly list of #EndSARS protesters

The Federal Ministry of the Interior said this on Twitter on Tuesday in response to a media report from an online publication.

The federal government has denied claims that it has drawn up a no-fly list of Nigerian youth and people who took part in #EndSARS protests against police brutality and extrajudicial killings in the country.

The Federal Ministry of the Interior said this on Twitter on Tuesday in response to a media report from an online publication.

The publication says Nigerian authorities have begun collecting a no-fly list of Nigerians that sparked a #EndSARS protest last month.

In response, @MinOfInteriorNG wrote: “The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not, does not have and will not compile lists of no-fly passengers. Ignore the fake news, please! “

Earlier it was reported that the Nigerian Immigration Service did not allow the promoter of the #EndSARS movement, Modupe Odele, to come on Monday.

Although the agents did not disclose the reason for their actions, it is believed that these actions were taken because of his alleged role in the #EndSARS protests.

Odele via her Twitter profile @Mochievous mobilized 219,000 followers during the protests.

He also offered free legal aid to people illegally arrested during the demonstrations.

Confirming this in a newsletter sent out on Monday, the lawyer said she was on her way to the Maldives to celebrate her birthday when she was approached by immigration officials.

Odele said she was detained when her passport was seized by officers and she was forced to miss her flight.

The revelation sparked outrage on Twitter, with thousands of people calling on the authorities to stop harassing Odel.

Former education minister Obi Ezekvesili said he wrote to National Security Advisor Babagane Mungono about the matter.

Ezekvesili tweeted: “Today I wrote to Babagana Mungono, National Security Advisor @MBuhari @NGRPresident, to immediately collect Modupe Odela’s passport from the SSS and publicly apologize for trampling on her freedoms. Perhaps they will be wise this time. Let’s wait and see. “
