Death of children at school in the Republic of Niger Terrible fire
President Muhammadu Bukhari yesterday expressed “deep sorrow” over a fire in an elementary school in Niamey, Republic of Niger, which killed more than 20 children.
President Bukhari, in a message to President Mohammed Bazum and the government and people of Nigeria’s northern neighbor, called the fire that killed mostly three to five-year-old children “heartbreaking and extremely terrifying.”
“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, we sympathize with our fraternal neighbors over this tragic loss.
“Our thoughts and prayers go to the victims, families and communities affected by this accident. Wishing a speedy recovery to the victims, ”the president added in a statement released by his spokesman Garba Shehu.
