Dele Momodu asks EFCC to end parade of arrested suspects (photos)
The Commission on Economic and Financial Crimes has been warned of the consequences of fleeing arrested suspects to the parade.
Ovation Media Group President Dele Momodu has called on the EFCC to end this act.
He said the EFCC should stop the march of suspects who were not prosecuted and convicted.
Momodu’s appeal came after the last EFCC parade, which was attended by 10 suspected internet fraud in Lagos.
“I want to appeal to the EFCC and security agencies to stop rushing to display photos of young Nigerians on social media pages when their cases have not been prosecuted and convicted,” he said Tuesday.
“This habit could permanently harm some of these children if later found not guilty.”
Momodu also called on the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) to take action on this issue.
“Our dear @officialefcc, please, not all young Nigerians with laptops are Yahoo Yahoo scammers … It is impossible to repair the damage by hastily uploading pictures of innocent people among the accused. I will immediately ask the NBA to intervene promptly, ”he said.
The media mogul added that having a laptop should not be “automatically criminalized” in Nigeria.
“Many young people in most countries today make a living from IT, and we need to encourage our own,” he said.
