EBSU Apologizes To Students And Says It Will Never Have An Accident Again

The management of Ebonyi State University, EBSU, has finally apologized to its students, ensuring that the “accident” that led to the crush and fainting of about five students will not happen again.

In a statement provided by IGBERE TV
Patrick Itumo, Head of Public Relations, said:

Management regrets the inconvenience caused by technical problems during the above survey, which led to delays and overcrowding of the center.

However, he stated that no one was killed and thanked Governor David Nvese Umahi for taking control of the situation.

The statement says:

“The management of Ebonyi State University noted with concern the unfortunate incident that occurred during the GST exams on Wednesday 10 February 2021.”

“Management regrets the inconvenience caused by technical problems during the above survey, which led to delays and overcrowding in the center. However, we are grateful to God that not a single life was lost in the process.

The university administration took note of the problems raised by the students and assures all stakeholders that they will be resolved as soon as possible. “

“We also regret the ensuing protests of university students who barricaded the Abakaliki-Enugu highway and obstructed traffic for several hours. The EBSU management would like to offer its deep and unconditional apologies to the general public and travelers who have suffered in one way or another. ”

Management is deeply grateful for the prompt intervention of State Governor His Excellency Ingres and Chief David Umaha through Lieutenant Governor His Excellency Barr. Erik Kelechi Igwe, who took control of the situation. We also thank the Secretary of State for Ebony, Dr. Kenneth Ugbal: The Honorable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Onebuchi Chima, and Commissioner for Border Peace and Homeland Security, Stanley Okoro Emeghu, for their prompt response.

We are also grateful to the security agencies, the Director of the State Security Service, Ebony State Command, as well as the Ebony State Command Police Commissioner, Mr. Garba Aliya and his officers and soldiers for their mature behavior and civic engagement during the protest.
God bless you all as we make our solemn promise to serve you better. ”
