Edo police released 11-year-old boy in police uniform who attacked police station
Human rights lawyer Cola Edokpayi has secured the unconditional release of an 11-year-old boy who was arrested on charges of involvement in an attack on a police station in Edo state, IgbereTV reported.
The boy, named Gift Osayuhi, was arrested for joining a gang of thugs who attacked the Oba market police station in the Evbuotubu district of Benin City. After the attack, the boy was allegedly in the uniform of a police sergeant, and he declared himself Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Confirming developments on Friday, October 30, Mr. Edokpayi thanked Edo State Police Commissioner Johnson Kokumo and the State Department of Justice for their understanding and cooperation.
He also said that the boy, whose mother is a widow, said that he dreams of becoming PGI.
