#End SARS: we follow the protests in Nigeria – United Nations

On Thursday, October 15, the UN announced that it is monitoring the ongoing #EndSARS protest, which is currently fighting police brutality in Nigeria.

Secretary General António Guterres praised the government’s decision to implement “broader reforms” in the Nigerian police force.

Guterres spoke through his representative, Stéphane Dujarrick, in New York.

The UN chief said he was ready to “accompany Nigeria in these efforts.”

He welcomed the dissolution of the Anti-Robbery Special Squad (SARS) and called on the government to implement broader police reforms.

The world organization called on the country’s security forces to show “maximum restraint” in their responses.
