#EndSARS: Angry Mob Insults Sanwo Olu Family Home on Lagos Island
The house of the family of the governor of the state of Lagos Babajide Sanvo-Olu on Omididun street on the island of Lagos was vandalized. The angry mob attacked the house, throwing stones at the house, Punch said.
This came after soldiers cracked down on #EndSARS protesters at a toll station in Lecchi. Sanwo Olu imposed a state curfew in response to #EndSARS protests.
Soldiers were subsequently called in, resulting in the deaths of at least seven people, mostly young people. Eyewitnesses told The PUNCH that one of the young men with a can of gasoline was seen pouring gasoline over the house, but was quickly stopped by residents for fears that the fire could spread uncontrollably.
An anonymous eyewitness said: “At about 7:45 am, angry young people gathered around the Sanwo Olu family’s home on Omididun Street, Lagos Island, throwing stones and breaking glass.
“One of the young men doused the building with gasoline, but he was immediately prevented from setting it on fire because the fire could spread and lead to death.”
It was learned that police officers from Adeniji Adel Police Station rushed to the scene in an attempt to suppress the violence.
