The Lagos state government has ordered all pupils / students in public and private schools to stay at home due to tensions over SARS protests.
Education Commissioner Ms Folasade Adefisayo, who issued the directive today, said that the safety of pupils / students, parents and all staff working in schools is of utmost importance during this critical period. However, he advised parents to watch over their charges and not allow them to be used as voluntary tools in the hands of those who might want to hijack protests in order to harm society.
The Commissioner also encouraged schools to use other distance learning and learning tools such as radio, television and online media, as they did during and after the recent COVID-19 blockade. Adefisayo said a new date for the resumption of classes will be announced as soon as possible.
