EndSARS: Most Young Nigerians Are Addicts – Mohisola Alli-Macaulay

A lawmaker representing the Amuvo Odofin 1 constituency of Lagos state, Mohisola Alli-Macaulay, says a large proportion of Nigerian youth use drugs regularly.

Allie-Macaulay spoke about this during a plenary session at the Lagos State Assembly House on the looting and pandemonium following the seizure of the #EndSARS protest by bandits.

He said the National Guidance Agency must fulfill its responsibilities and help change attitudes among youth.

The legislator said: “The National Leadership Agency should start working. We need to start guiding our youth. They need people who can talk to them from time to time. Most of them are always drug addicts. They go to social media and therefore all kinds. I’m even afraid to give phones to my young children, because I’m afraid of what they will see on social networks. This is so bad. “

Allie-Macaulay said unemployment should not be used as an excuse for robbery, adding that unemployment is not exclusive to Nigeria.

“Unemployment should not be the reason why young people should go out and behave badly. Unemployment exists all over the world, including the United States.

“I studied in the UK and saw a lot of young people who didn’t work but didn’t become thugs. Why can’t we look inside ourselves and find solutions to our problems? She asked.

The legislator argued that an unemployed college graduate could find work in the informal sector instead of complaining about unemployment.

“Why can’t young people look inside themselves, find their talents? Even if you graduated from college, what’s stopping you from becoming a professional designer or tiler and making a brand out of it? There is no excuse for the bully, ”he said.
