The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has harshly criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress, calling it a murderous party for its role in the Lekki Tollgate shooting on October 20, 2020.
The PDP reacted to the Lagos state’s #EndSARS panel report confirming the gruesome killings of innocent youths at the Lekki toll booth.
Recall that the Lagos #EndSARS panel in its reports indicted the Nigerian police and the Nigerian army, claiming that there was a massacre.
The panel in its report revealed that no fewer than eleven people were killed at the Lekki toll booth that day.
This was revealed by the panel led by justice Doris Okuwobi in its report presented on Monday to the government of the state of Lagos.
The panel in the report entitled “Lekki Incident Investigation Report of 20 October 2020” noted that at least 48 protesters were killed, wounded by bullets or assaulted by soldiers.
Reacting in a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said the report reinforces the fact that the APC is leading a murderous and oppressive regime that has no regard for life.
“Nigerians recall how security officers attacked and massacred innocent youths and how the APC, its leaders and agents, in various agencies of the APC-controlled government, vehemently denied the killings, tried to gather evidence and they provided official cover for the killers.
“The Lagos #EndSARS panel report, which confirms the massacre of young Nigerians in Lekki, further showed the APC and its government as bloodthirsty liars whose hands are stained with the blood of our innocent compatriots,” the party said.
The PDP said it is now clear that no matter how “the wicked try to deny, the truth will always prevail.”
The opposition party has warned that the blood of innocent youths killed by agents of the APC and its administration must not be shed in vain.
“Those responsible for these insensitive acts must be brought to justice. Of course, anyone whose hands are stained with blood will never know peace, ”the party said.
The PDP urged Nigerians to defend their slain compatriots by ensuring that those behind the massacre of the youth and their supporters in the government have their days in the dock.
The statement said: “The nation must ensure that such individuals are led to denounce their act of wickedness towards humanity.
“In this regard, our party insists that all those indicted by the panel be arrested, prosecuted and treated in accordance with our laws.
“The PDP will once again commiserate with the families of young Nigerians killed, who were cut down in their prime for calling for a just, equitable and safe nation governed by the rule of law.”
