EndSARS: Police arrest 229 arsonists and criminals in Lagos

The Lagos Department of Justice will pursue suspects who allegedly used the #EndSARS protests to destroy and loot public and private property in various parts of the state.

Lagos Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, who reported this today, called on the Lagos to maintain peace, law and order in their respective communities by pledging the commitment of an administration led by Governor Babajide Sanvo Olu to always uphold the rule of law.

It turned out that the head of the prosecutor’s office, Ms. Olayinka Adeyemi, together with a group of prosecutors, examined the relevant police units in order to study the files of those arrested by the police and determine who had filed the claim. prima facie against them.

“229 suspects were arrested by the police for a variety of felonies ranging from arson, murder, theft, malicious property damage and assault before and after the state curfew imposed by Governor Mr. Babajide Sanvo Olu to restore law and order in Lagos,” said Commissioner.

He said that after the assessment of the case is completed, those who have to answer will be prosecuted on Monday, and the rest will be released.
Recall that some criminals hijacked a peaceful protest of young people against the brutality of the agents of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other police officers who marked #EndSARS in order to cause chaos and disrupt peace in the state.
