#EndSARS protest: two police sergeants killed in Ondo, police commissioner says
Ondo State Police Commissioner Bolaji Salami said two police sergeants were killed in the violence that followed the #EndSARS protest in the state.
Salami said that two sergeants were killed in the cities of Ondo and Ore. While the officer killed in Åre was lynched after meeting the thugs while riding his motorcycle, he said that the sergeant killed in Ondo city faced the thugs around the palace street and was burned. inside his car.
The police commissioner also said that a civilian was killed during the crisis, adding that the victim was a member of a three-man gang that tried to rob a bank in Ondo town. However, his disclosure disputes the claims of two high school students killed in Ondo city when police opened fire on protesters.
Salami, who also complained about the chaos unleashed in the state, stressed that the damage done by the police was not quantifiable.
He said;
“I am fully committed to protecting you and the entire state to the best of my ability and, of course, with respect for human rights.
“Let’s put the events of the last few weeks behind us and focus on our ability to support the police as it was at the beginning.”
