According to the statement “I welcome the presentation to the Governor of the state of Lagos, HE Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of the reports of the judicial panel on the allegations of brutality and shootings in the Lekki area of the state of Lagos, during the EndSARS protests of 2020, “
Mr. Kallon noted that presenting the judicial panel’s findings would speed up the justice and accountability process.
“I urge the government to implement the recommendations of the judicial commission of inquiry to rebuild trust and start the healing and reconciliation process.” The UN resident and humanitarian coordinator added.
In its statement, the United States said it welcomed the conclusion of the Lagos State Judicial Investigation Commission with the transmission of the final report.
“We look forward to the response from the Lagos state government as part of a process that represents an important accountability mechanism regarding the #EndSARS protests and events that took place near the Lekki toll booth on 20 October 2020.
“These events have led to serious allegations against some members of the security forces and we look forward to the state of Lagos and federal governments taking adequate measures to address these alleged abuses and the grievances of the victims and their families.
