Lagos Governor Babajide Sanvo-Olu kept his promise and met President Muhammadu Bukhari in Abuja on Tuesday to discuss issues bordering on police brutality and #EndSARS protests across the country.

The governor, who tweeted details of the meeting, said he provided copies of requests from young people protesting police brutality and extortion in the country. He explained that “the president has reaffirmed his commitment to a holistic reform of the entire police corps.

Officially presenting the demands of the protesters in Bukhari, Sanwo-Olu said, “They (the protesters) said that we must release all the protesters, and we released them.” They said we should set up a trust fund to compensate the families of the victims. Today I created my trust fund and announced it. “Third, they said that we should organize a small investigation for angry people. So tomorrow PGI will come to the Governors Forum and ask each of us to form a team of five.

“The last thing we need to do is raise the police salary. PGI said they are working on it. PGI said some of them will receive psychosocial treatment.
