#EndSARS: Training for New Police Unit – IGP Mohammed Adamu To Begin Next Week

Following the dissolution of the Special Anti-Theft Squad (SARS) on Sunday, October 11, Police Inspector General Mohammed Adamu announced that training for a new police unit will begin next week to replace SARS.

PGI, which reported this when Davido visited him at his office on Monday, October 12, during the ongoing #ENDSARS protests, said new premises need to be obtained to carry out the duties of a defunct police unit.

Adamu promised to investigate all cases of atrocities and bring those responsible to justice, and also show that the new unit will be led by intelligence, properly trained and will only act in special cases requiring their attention.

He said;

“We just disbanded yesterday, so the protesters should calm down and give us time to solve the problem. The general public will participate in the process of purchasing a new dress.

“I am talking to you, so I will continue to talk to many others, and I will involve civil society and get their input to create the new unit.”

On the issue of compensation for families of victims of SARS abuse, PGI said it would be considered after an investigation was completed.

Adam went on to advise that although the officers of the disbanded SARS would be retrained and given other duties in the Force, they would not be reabsorbed into the new unit.
