Following an ongoing #EndSARS protest against police brutality in the country, The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) announced its full support of the police.
Nigerians are protesting nationwide against police brutality, although some paid criminals have seized the opportunity to attack innocent Nigerians.
This was announced by the leader of the group Ishak Akintola, reminding the young people that not all agents of the now defunct SARS are insensitive and cruel.
“To all police officers and women on duty, especially those who consistently display extraordinary courage, chivalry, sacrifice and courtesy, we rise above the angry crowd to appreciate you today.”
“We remind young people protesting against #EndSARS that not all SARS agents are callous and mean,” he said against the generalization. “In our opinion, such a generalization would not be correct for such officers who served Nigeria well.”
The MURIC leader also said that the #EndSARS protest should not be politicized or turned into a means to an end.
“It’s like hijacking a business and directing people’s feelings towards a narrow and selfish goal.
“Nigeria’s police have to raise the bar, and the same goes for licensing authorities.
“We cannot afford to remain pedestrians in the age of jet engines,” he added.
