#EndSARS: Why did I impose a 24-hour curfew in Imo, says Uzodinma
Imo State Citizen Number One, Governor Hope Uzodynma, spoke about the state’s 24-hour curfew.
The governor said he has imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state to avoid protests that could lead to death, Vanguard reported.
Uzodinma spoke to Owerri on State Imolith Air about the EndSAR protests.
The governor simply said, “Since I do not want to avoid an accident that could lead to the loss of life in the state, I will do my best to keep peace and security for all people in Imo.
“Therefore, to ensure that peace in the state is not disturbed, the state has imposed a 24-hour curfew until further notice.
“This means that there will be no traffic in the state either day or night, except for those undergoing approved essential services. Curfew starts today at midnight on October 20th. “
He continued: “Just yesterday I created a judicial commission to investigate the alleged human rights violations resulting from the elimination of SARS.
“All these actions point to the indisputable fact that expectations of protests are honestly met by both the federal and state governments.
“That is why one cannot put up with the determination of some unpatriotic elements to infiltrate real protesters, increase tensions and unleash violence in the state.”
